PS5 was named the best gaming hardware at the 2021 Golden Joystick Awards

The 2021 Golden Joystick Awards have Sony’s PS5 the gong for the best gaming hardware to fend off competition from the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and Nintendo Switch OLED, among others.

Here are the full nominations for this year’s Best Gaming Hardware Award so you can see just how much competition the PS5 has had to battle.

  • PS5 (winner)
  • Xbox Series X
  • Xbox Series S
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080
  • Nintendo Switch OLED
  • WD_BLACK SN850 NVMe SSD

The PS5 is still not readily available around the world due to the ongoing shortage of semiconductors, resulting in fewer consoles being manufactured and shipped to retailers. The Xbox Series X / S also has similar problems.

That said, Sony recently announced that the PS5 had shipped 13.4 million units worldwide, so the console has been a huge hit so far despite being hard to come by.
