Guerrilla Games visited the PlayStation Blog to reveal a number of new details Horizon Forbidden West, this time spilling the beans on its vast, open world and the residents Aloy will encounter.
First of all, the NPCs have been significantly improved as every non-fighter is part of a reactive mass system.
Additionally, a hiring system has been implemented to determine their personalities so you will come across many unique personalities along the way – it doesn’t sound like everything is a copy-and-paste job here.
In the meantime, the game’s tribes will all have their own unique behavior and animations to make them instantly recognizable.
Aspen Sogn, Guerrilla Games Lead Living World Designer, commented:
Ultimately, our goal is to make sure NPCs feel connected to where they live, and we work closely with other in-house teams like Narrative, Quest, and Environment to make sure each place feels authentic.
Every non-combat NPC in Horizon Forbidden West is part of a mass system. Within this system you can create rules such as reactions, routes and other animations. We then also have the attitude system that determines a personality. This means that we can create unique people who act like individuals in the world.
