British indie studio Pocket Burger Games raises $ 1 million | Pocket Gamer.biz

British indie mobile game developer Pocket Burger Games has announced that it has raised $ 1 million after a round of seeds.

The funding round was led by Sisu Game Ventures and included the participation of RLC Ventures and Aream & Co.

It is Sisu’s first investment in a UK game studio.

Founded in 2021, Pocket Burger Games takes a “Fantasy First” approach to game development with a “Creator First Development Culture” and will initially develop casual games for mobile devices.

The three co-founders Mitchell Smallman, Adam Sullivan and Matt Down previously held executive positions at Rovio, Space Ape Games and Gram Games, respectively.

Creator-first culture

“It’s not just about being the first mover in a room,” said Mitchell Smallman, co-founder and CEO of Pocket Burger Games.

“It’s about finding games that should have been around by now. We are not an ideas team, we are an audience team. Our goal is for every pocket burger game to have an audience that says ‘Finally a game for me’ and we deliver for them. “

Pocket Burger Games currently consists of five developers, each with experience creating successful mobile titles.

Sisu Game Ventures founding partner Samuli Syvähuoko added, “We were very familiar with Mitchell when he approached us. When we saw the rest of the team he had assembled, we were immediately interested.

“It quickly became clear that they were passionate about building a progressive culture that we have often seen successful in the mobile space. They were a perfect fit for Sisu.”
