Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City will hit theaters next week on November 24th. It is perhaps one of the most interesting video game films ever released. Not narrative or stylistically, but in the footsteps that it has to fill in. Welcome to Raccoon City is a complete reinterpretation of the Resident Evil world for the big screen, following Paul WS Anderson’s Resident Evil franchise, which spanned six films and grossed more than $ 1 billion in box office revenues.
Where Anderson took the Resident Evil source material and created his own science fiction universe, Welcome to Raccoon City – Director: Johannes Roberts (47 meters down, The Strangers: Prey by Night) – stays much closer to the first two games in the series. It leads to a much more informed story that focuses on characters fans have known for decades.
Before the film is released next week, we met two of its stars, Tom Hopper and Avan Jogia, who were shooting Albert Wesker and where they found inspiration for their characters.
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City comes to cinemas on November 24th, 2021.
