Rumor – Star Wars Battlefront 3 was introduced to EA, but licensing costs brought the project to a standstill

According to the well-known leaker Tom Henderson, DICE has pitched Star Wars Battlefront 3 to EA, but the project ended up going nowhere due to licensing costs.

Henderson added that while Battlefront 3 is not currently in development – instead, a new Battlefield is supposedly already in the works – publisher EA has two Star Wars games in the pipeline and will be story-driven projects. One of them is almost certainly a sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Regarding Battlefront 3, a developer source claimed, “It was rejected because it takes 20% more sales to make the same money.”

Henderson added that a number of key developers who worked on Star Wars Battlefront have left DICE in the past 12 months, including Dennis Branvall and Christian Johannese who served as the creative directors and core gameplay designers for Battlefront II.

At the moment he claims that Battlefront 3 is very unlikely at this point, although we’ll have to wait and see what the future holds for the franchise.
