Rockstar Games apologizes for the state of GTA: The Trilogy

Rockstar Games has apologized to fans for the state of the GTA trilogy after release on November 11th. The editor has confirmed the technical problems encountered by the players in Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition and confirmed that the games “did not come onto the market in a condition that would meet our own quality standards”.

The trilogy did not meet “the standards … the fans are used to it“Either. Players have criticized the appearance of the models and textures so far. Others have encountered bugs, glitches, and a variety of performance issues. PC gamers couldn’t even play in the first few days after launch because Rockstar disabled it to save files.” how to remove licensed music and the infamous Hot Coffee mini-game that shouldn’t have been there.

A title update will be released in the coming days in the hopes that this will fix some of the ongoing issues. Rockstar’s plans also include further updates until the trilogy reaches its intended quality. Rockstar’s full statement can be read below:

We’d like to provide an update on the unexpected technical issues that came to light with the release of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition.

First of all, we would like to sincerely apologize to anyone who has encountered problems while playing these games.

The Grand Theft Auto series – and the games that make up this iconic trilogy – are as special to us as we know them to be for fans around the world. The updated versions of these classic games have not been released in a condition that meets our own quality standards or the standards our fans have come to expect.

We have ongoing plans to address the technical issues and improve every game in the future. With each scheduled update, the games will reach the quality they deserve.

A new title update for all versions of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition will be released in the coming days and will fix a number of issues. We’ll update all of them once it’s live.

In the meantime, it pains us to mention we hear reports of members of the development team being harassed on social media. We would like to ask our community to maintain a respectful and civil discourse on this release as we resolve these issues.

While one of the goals of Definitive Editions was to enable players to enjoy these games on modern platforms for many years to come, we also understand that some of you would still like to have the earlier classic versions available for purchase.

We’ll be bringing the classic PC versions of Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas back to the Rockstar Store as a bundle soon. In addition, anyone who purchased Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition for PC from the Rockstar Store by June 30, 2022 will receive these classic versions in their Rockstar Games Launcher library at no additional cost. We’ll update all of them as soon as these are back in the Rockstar Store.

We’d like to thank everyone once again for their patience and understanding as we work through these updates to ensure these games live up to all rightly high standards.

While PC gamers will be able to purchase the classic versions of the three games again, it is not yet known whether the same courtesy will be restored for console gamers. All previous versions of Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto San Andreas was removed from PlayStation Store in October in preparation for this trilogy release. Still, the response is far better than that of Grove Street Games developer Thomas Williamson, who said he was “honestly enjoy this unprecedented level of control in our studio.“It remains to be seen whether he will still enjoy the exam in a few weeks’ time.
