First look at the opening level of Halo Infinite (4K)

The upcoming release of Halo Infinite marks an exciting time for Xbox fans around the world. Master Chief’s return is turning out to be exciting and we’re giving you a quick 4K look at the opening mission of 343’s newest adventure!

In this clip we see John-117 fighting the Exiles, a familiar but new group of grunts, jackals, brutes and elites who have found their way to the Zeta Halo and want to use their power to their advantage. This first stage of Halo Infinite takes place 18 months after the events of Halo 5, but we find that Chief gets into conflict again and fights for his life aboard the exiled warship Gbraakon after being knocked out for six months. He must work his way through his alien enemies before taking the next step in his journey to the ring to find out what he has been missing out on in his absence.

When we spoke to 343, they made it clear that they wanted Halo Infinite to be the spiritual successor to the original game that started it all. That becomes very evident in this opening mission as Chief moves through the metallic halls of the Brute Warship before descending to the ultimate weapon of the universe, reflecting his time clearing out the Pillar of Fall in Halo: Combat Evolved.

Nostalgia isn’t the only thing you’ll find in this clip as we also get a taste of the new fights in the game. The grappleshot is going to be the gamer’s best friend, as we see here, it’s not only handy when trying to scale Halo Infinite’s more vertical planes.

This is just the beginning of the fun for fans eagerly awaiting the Halo Infinite release on December 8th! Join us at Game Informer for the next few weeks as we release a ton of new information on Developer 343’s latest entry in the Legendary Series, including an in-depth look at the campaign, our new take on single player, and more! Thank you for watching and we hope you enjoy the coverage!
