At the beginning of September we reported on the asobu Indie Showcase, an online event organized by a Tokyo-based organization that promotes and supports independent developers. A few Switch games were featured, including some that we assumed were Japan titles only.
BEAT! SPEAK! was one of those games we doubted would hit the world, but it turned out we were wrong. Developer Gift-10’s project is now available in eShop worldwide – it’s designed to help people learn the rhythm and pace of English speaking, with the supported languages being Japanese, Korean and Chinese.
As you can see in the trailer, it has a quirky style, but you can learn more about its goals in the official description below:
As you play the rhythm game, you will begin to experience the bouncy beat that English has. When you press a key, you can pronounce the word aloud along with the game’s natural pronunciation. Before you know it, you will naturally speak a lot of English!
– Comprehensive tutorials to help you overcome your weaknesses
– Medal mode that allows you to practice gradually
– Pro mode to try high scores
– 40 humorous and varied speeches
– Expert supervision for effective learning
As always, it’s interesting to see some of the more experimental projects appearing in the eShop; let us know your thoughts in the comments.
