3.5 billion Hypercasual games downloaded in Q3 2021 | Pocket Gamer.biz

The popularity of Hypercasual games in the global mobile market continues to grow, with the most important attributes of the genre: a single, simple mechanic, freely accessible, short gameplay sessions – all finding success with players around the world.

Developers and publishers in almost every region are finding that these easy-to-understand titles, which take the whole idea of ​​video games back to basics, can attract large audiences and create compelling experiences for gamers.

“Hypercasual games tend to dominate the top global charts for downloads because of their simple and accessible nature. In the third quarter of 2021, according to the App Annies Game IQ taxonomy, Hypercasual was the world’s leading genre for downloads with over 3.5 billion downloads.

“If you look at the subgenres, Hypercasual> Action, Hypercasual> Puzzle, and Hypercasual> Simulation were the top three most downloaded subgenres in Q3 2021.

“EMEA is a strong region that publishes top hypercasual titles with Supersonic, Rollic, Voodoo, Follow Circles and Azur Interactive Games as notable studios. The top 10 Hypercasual games by global downloads by EMEA HQ publishers accounted for nearly 10 percent of all hypercasual game downloads in the quarter. “
