Hello everyone and welcome to the week! It’s time again for our review of the notable updates over the past seven days. Today’s listing includes some classic favorites, some Apple Arcade hits, and some popular free-to-play titles. Hopefully everyone will find at least one interesting game on the list, but if not, feel free to comment with your own anytime. You can check for updates yourself by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly round-up is just here to educate you about the things you may have missed. Here we go!
Phoenix 2‘Free Firi Games’ award-winning shoot-em-up Phoenix 2 I got a nice update last week that adjusts how Phoenix Revives works. The new Phoenix Revives unlock at level 10, but if you’ve had any before, you’ll still have them. Either way, you can now choose how many to take with you when you set off. They are triggered automatically if your ship is destroyed. This update also contains some graphical optimizations and bug fixes. Did you know the original Phoenix is now ten years old and still fun? Pretty cool.
Tower explosion, Here’s another content drop for Tower explosion, adds a new world called Brickbeard’s Bay, which has a whopping sixty new levels to play with. There are also new game mechanics to learn and some new Skylands levels. Balance adjustments have been made to some of the existing levels, and there are some bug fixes and other tweaks to top it off.
LEGO® brawls, The newest event in LEGO brawls with the Monkie Kid set on the subject of Journey to the West on the pages of classic fiction. Monkie Kid, Mei, Pigsy, and the Monkey King are available as new Brawlers, and there’s a whole new level to play on the Flower Fruit Mountain set. You have to collect more peaches than anyone else to win, and you don’t have to do it alone as you can summon some allies to assist you. This update also adds six new power-ups. Wow, that’s a whole lot of monkey action!
SP! NG“One Apple Arcade game that I return to often is that from SMG Studio SP! NG, so I’m always happy when it shows up in the Recently Updated list. This update adds eighteen new levels with a chance to test your puzzle skills and a brand new PAP! ER OCEAN theme with eight new creatures and some soothing sea sounds to please your ears. With all of that comes some new achievements, bug fixes, and various other small improvements. These new levels are pretty tough, so I think I’ll be working on them a little more.
Marvel competition of champions, Free The Eternal Film exists and there is not much we can do about it. Pretty much all of the Marvel apps run events based on the movie, and there’s a good chance they’ll be more fun than watching the movie itself. Competition of champions has a big event going on and Ikaris and Sersi seem to be taking center stage. In more amusing news, Deadpoolooza returns, giving you one more chance to see this silly event. The update includes some new UI features, adjustments to a few champions, and more. So get in if you’re curious.
MARVEL future revolution, Free There are more Marvel apps with it Eternal Updates, but I’ll keep a trim two for this article. And why not make one of them a current hit Marvel Future Revolution? Nevertheless, Eternal. There’s a special event here where you’ll fight alongside the Eternals to defeat the Deviants. There is a new event dungeon, a new growth system, a new elite ranking system, an alliance ranking system, a new transmutation system and various improvements to the user interface and overall gameplay. Look on the positive side: we’re only about a month from that Spider Man Events.
Subway surfers, Free The Subway surfers This time travel to my home country and head to Vancouver to do their usual antics. New surfer Mala is ready to paint trains and plant trees to add even more emphasis to Canada’s beautiful nature, and she can do so on the nifty Maple Leaf board if you can add it to your collection. There is also a new autumn outfit for Alicia. Putting it all together is a Play 2 Plant event where you plant trees in the oddly named Subway Forest. I will give what is desired UMMSotW to Subway surfers out of sheer preference and no one can do anything about it. Nyeah!
Garden landscapesThis week’s mandatory free matching puzzle update is free Garden landscapes. Yeah, I forgot to do one last week. Since it’s mandatory, that’s pretty bad. Hopefully Jared won’t fire me. But he could! It’s fun to work here. In any case, it’s a common update for this game. Some new story events, a Maine Coon pet for Golden Ticket holders, and a few other little things. Austin is pretty busy this month as it stands. Deep-sea diving, helping writers deal with writer’s block, and even lifting a pirate ship out of the water. What? Just another day in the Austinverse.
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, For free
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp has been around for four years now. Hard to believe. With its smooth start, I honestly didn’t think it would last that long. But it eventually found its groove and a lot of people seem to enjoy playing it to this day. This update lays the groundwork for several events, including events related to the game’s anniversary celebrations.
Fire Emblem HeroesSpeaking of long-running Nintendo mobile apps, Fire Emblem Heroes continues to deliver its popular brand of casual battles. This update adds new skills for legendary heroes Marth and Tiki, and my goodness, it doesn’t get more legendary than these two for this series, does it? Exalted Falchion and Divine Mist can now be upgraded in the Weapons Refinery, and there are new character-specific weapon skills for Linus and Kaze. I think that’s as good as any to end this week’s column.
This concludes the important updates of the last week. However, I’m sure I missed a few, so please don’t hesitate to leave a comment below and let everyone know if you think anything should be mentioned. As usual, important updates will likely get their own messages later this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to round up and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
