Free Fire continues to outperform PUBG Mobile and Call of Duty Mobile | Pocket Gamer.biz

According to App Annie, the demand for Garena’s Free Fire has increased dramatically in 2021.

In the first half of the year, Free Fire was the second most downloaded mobile game worldwide and the most downloaded battle royale title.

Free Fire was second only to Supersónico Estudios’ Hypercasual hit Join Clash 3D, which has held its position since the beginning of this year.

In addition, Free Fire had the sixth highest number of active users in the world, but lagged behind battle royale competitor PUBG Mobile, which has the highest number of active users.

Additionally, Free Fire took the top spot in lifetime downloads of shooter mobile games, outperforming PUBG Mobile.

Take over

Free Fire has found much of its success in India and Brazil.

In Brazil, Free Fire ranked second in downloads and active users and first in consumer spending, making it the most popular battle royale in the country. Since its release, the game has maintained a strong presence in the country.

Free Fire was successful in India after a nationwide ban on PUBG Mobile last year. Free Fire was the eighth most downloaded mobile game in India and the number one consumer spending game in the country.

However, Free Fire ranked third among the most active users in India, behind Ludo King and Battlegrounds Mobile.

In addition, Free Fire was the most downloaded and top-selling mobile game in Thailand in the first half of 2021. The game ranks second for the most active users after Honor of Kings.

Despite its success in Asian areas and Latin America, Free Fire is struggling to find Western audiences.

Western audiences are instead spending their time and money on battle royale competitors, namely PUBG Mobile and Call of Duty Mobile.

However, Free Fire generated the fourth highest spend in the US, ahead of PUBG Mobile at eighth and Call of Duty Mobile at tenth, suggesting the game is gaining a foothold outside of Asia and Latin America.

Free Fire maintains its active user base and media relevance through frequent partnerships with major media brands such as Venom and Cristiano Ronaldo.

To expand its reach, Garena released Free Fire Max on September 28th, a graphically enhanced version of Free Fire with additional features.
