Elden Ring will run up to 60 FPS on consoles and new generation PCs

Bandai Namco has said that Elden Ring players can expect the game to run “up to” 60 FPS on new generation consoles and PCs when it launches in February.

The publisher confirmed some features of the game on the Edlen Ring website. Perhaps to the disappointment of some players, the game’s frame rate on PC will not be unlimited at launch, but capped at 60 FPS.

According to the editor, new generation consoles can also reach up to 60 FPS, although that comes with a small limitation. To bring the PS5 and Xbox Series X | S up to that number, Bandai Namco warned that gamers may need to run the game in performance mode – a feature that adjusts the game’s screen resolution and load balancing to achieve higher frame rates.

Elden Ring classes

While the news of Elden Ring’s 60 FPS frame rate cap may not be what PC gamers were hoping for, there is still a lot to expect. According to the instructions, both PC and console gamers of the new generation can run the game in 4K resolution and have access to HDR support at launch.

Ray tracing will also be made available for these formats, although Bandai Namco says it will be patched and that it will not be available for Xbox Series S players. The publisher has not yet clarified whether this patch will arrive at the start or at a later point in time.

Despite the fact that last generation consoles don’t have access to in-game ray tracing capabilities, the majority will benefit from HDR support, and consoles like the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X should offer resolutions up to 4k. Regardless of whether you access the game at 4k or a lower resolution, the frame rate is consistently limited to 30 FPS on systems of the last generation.
