Producer Adi Shankar recently announced in an interview with IGN that the 2018 was announced Devil May Cry: The Animated Series will have multiple seasons, and the first season will have eight episodes. In addition, the series will play the popular characters Dante and Virgil.
Shankar said the scripts for Season 1 are complete and that he has a “multi-year arc” in mind. He also joked that Chris Pratt won’t be voicing characters.
“The entire team from both management and creative side has been so incredibly supportive and gracious,” said Shankar. “[Hiroyuki] Kobayashi-san was wonderful. Capcom is a real pleasure to work with. Your character library is unlike anything assembled. “
Speaking of adapting video games into TV series, Shankar (the one behind Netflix Castlevania also) said:
Just as there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to adapting a book to a movie, and there isn’t one right way to create a cover song, there is no one-size-fits-all approach to adapting, translating, or extending games to another medium. Castlevania had a team of people who were fans of the IP and wanted animation to be taken seriously as a medium rather than just a genre. When we launched Season 1 in 2017, it felt like a struggle to be noticed, or even recognized, by the mainstream. The fact that Castlevania didn’t just spawn a spin-off but essentially sparked a whole vertical of adult animated content for Netflix is insane. This is a case of the right place at the right time and I am honored to be a part of this journey.
