Snipperclips was a lovely starter game that is perfect for solving puzzles in multiplayer, and its plus design gives you more content to enjoy. This is still not particularly great for solo gaming – although it is possible – but it’s a game that clearly shows its status as a multiplayer experience and is a great showcase for tabletop mode with two players, one at a time Cancel Joy-Con. It’s still charming, humorous, and challenging too when playing with friends and family, and the extra charge for the DLC content is well worth the investment. As the definitive version of a high quality game, it is worthy of any Switch collection.

Editor: Nicalis / Developer: sweetheart

Release date: May 29, 2018 (United States of America) / May 29, 2018 (UK / EU)

Ikaruga is not so highly revered by accident, despite its almost accidental origin. It’s the result of a combination of an incredibly talented team making the most of excellent hardware and bringing in the unique dual polarity gimmick that secretly introduces the puzzle-solving mechanics into a bullet-hell shmup. So it’s no big surprise that not only does it remain an incredibly addicting experience, but it also lands smoothly on our switch shmup list. Aside from portability, what really drives this version above all is the ability to toss a Joy-Con to a friend to play co-op anytime, anywhere in tabletop mode.

It really is the perfect shmup on the perfect system. The old king is back on his rightful throne on Mount Shmup.
