There’s always talk of what’s next for big game companies like Nintendo, but what’s next for Nintendo?

Well, in its latest Corporate Management Policy Briefing, led by President Shuntaro Furukawa – the company has released another incredibly vague update on future hardware plans – and essentially reiterates what has been mentioned on previous occasions.

The future prospects for the company are clear to expand Nintendo IP further and as part of that, Nintendo’s “next gaming system” will continue with the “integrated hardware-software” approach. And in case you’re wondering, it will come … someday. Currently the placeholder is “20XX” so at least we will get it this century. Yay!

Nintendo says it will continue to use Nintendo Accounts – to build “touchpoints” and “long-term” relationships with consumers.

“Nintendo plans to grow its business around the core concept of creating unique integrated hardware-software products.

“With our integrated hardware-software business and the provision of services and content based on Nintendo accounts, we are striving for a positive cycle in which touchpoints with more and more consumers are created and strengthened in order to build long-term, mutually beneficial relationships . “
