Two prominent Lionsgate producers have announced that the company plans to develop games based on the popular horror series Saw. When asked by fans on Reddit, the producers replied that Lionsgate brought them “some amazing projects.” While details are still scarce, they assure fans that the project will “100% happen”.
Saw Series producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules recently held an Ask Me Anything on the / r / horror subreddit. In it, the duo answered a few questions from fans about the future of the franchise. One such question concerned the possibility of one Saw Game series specifically for next-gen consoles. On Lionsgate’s official Reddit account, the producers announced that Lionsgate has given them several projects that they are currently investigating.
However, this isn’t the first time the popular horror series has made its foray into video games. Konami released Saw: The video game 2009 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Developer Zombie Studios even made a sequel, Saw II: flesh and bloodwhich received strikingly negative reviews. The series wouldn’t see any form of video game content until 2018 Dead by daylight picked up the franchise in the form of a DLC killer and survivor.
Lionsgate has also been involved in other video game projects. Lionsgate’s game publishing division, Lionsgate Games, published Bloober Team Blair witch Game based on the horror film franchise of the same name.
In particular, the film studio also produces the Borderland Film customization. Lionsgate has released several updates to Borderlands over the past few months. Well-known actors like THOR: RagnarokCate Blanchett, comedian Kevin Hart and HalloweenJamie Lee Curtis’ s are confirmed as part of the star cast.
While any Saw Gaming is likely a way out, rest assured that “it will happen 100% at some point” and bring the historic and gruesome horror franchise on consoles back to consoles.[Source: Reddit]
