Nintendo showed an external home storage system for Animal Crossing: New Horizons in its October announcement that allows players to access goods stored in a storage shed. But as it turns out, the wood storage shed and storage shed – two separate items – aren’t immediately available after downloading the 2.0 update.
Instead, they become available after you upgrade your home storage past the 500,000 bells storage level, which means you must have a fully upgraded home as well. You can do this by visiting Tom Nook at Resident Services and paying 500,000 bells to Tom Nook if you haven’t already. (If so, skip this step.) Construction will be completed the next day and then you can access the storage sheds directly from Resident Services.
You can buy the DIY Wood Storage Shed Recipe from Nook Miles – it costs 6,000. Remember, this item will only be used up once you reach 500,000 bells storage space in your home. To make it, it costs you 30 wood, hardwood, and softwood each plus 10 iron nuggets.
It can be placed anywhere on the island and has full access to your home storage which is very convenient. If you place several of these on your island, you will always have easy access.
The second shed, simply called the storage shed, is available in the Nook Miles shopping catalog further down the list. This is a real item so it will be delivered to your home the next day. It works just like the woodshed, but looks just a little different. Speaking of looking different, each of these sheds can be customized in like any other item New Horizons. It can suit your island no matter what.
None of the sheds add to your home storage – just provide access to what you already have. However, it will grow along with more home storage upgrades.
