Morbius, the living vampire, has a new trailer. The latest preview of the Jared Leto-led Venom spinoff was released on Tuesday and reveals the character’s vampiric nature of justice and his (lack of) sense of humor.
Morbius follows Dr. Michael Morbius, a scientist who acquires a form of superhuman vampirism in an attempt to heal himself from a rare blood disease. We see parts of his transformation in this trailer, but the end result is a craving for blood and some extremely sharp looking teeth. Despite (or perhaps because of) his new ailment, Morbius is still trying to please the world and becomes a very complicated and dangerous superhero.
This latest trailer reminds us of that too Morbius is in the same universe as Sony’s other Spider-Man and Spider-Man-neighboring properties. Michael Keaton appears and repeats his role as a vulture Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Morbius himself jokes about being Venom – although we’re not entirely sure if anyone in Venom’s universe really knows about Venom. However, this confirms that all of these villains share a universe, and that means they have a connection to Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well.
Morbius is expected to be released on January 28, 2022.
