Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis games available for Nintendo Switch Online [UPDATE]

Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack will be released later today. The service is priced at $ 49.99 per year for a single subscription with the family plan set at $ 79.99. Prices for those with existing Switch Online subscriptions have not yet been announced at this time. This updated subscription includes all Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis games listed below, as well as all existing Nintendo Switch Online services previously offered. Nintendo recently announced that the upcoming Animal Crossing paid expansion DLC Happy Home Paradise will be included in the Online + Expansion Pack service at no additional cost.

You will soon be able to play a range of classic Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis games on your Nintendo Switch via the platform’s online subscription service, the company announced today during its latest Nintendo Direct livestream.

Nintendo announced that it will soon be launching a new membership plan through Nintendo Online that will allow you to play games like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Super Mario 64, and Starfox 64. The service allows up to four Switch owners to play games locally or online, the company said.

As part of the same membership plan, Nintendo also announced it would add Sega Genesis games to Nintendo Switch Online. Games like Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Streets of Rage 2 and Ecco the Dolphin were shown during the trailer.

No specific release date has been given, but Nintendo said it will come in late October and will offer all of the basic elements of the Nintendo Switch Online service. The company calls this plan “Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack”. Users of the existing plans can still do this, but they can also change their membership plans if they wish. No prices have been given, but Nintendo said information and an exact release date will be coming soon.
