Scopely to Acquire Social Casino Company GSN Games for $ 1 Billion | Pocket Gamer.biz

US publisher Scopely has continued to expand and acquired GSN Games from Sony Pictures Entertainment for $ 1 billion.

The prize will be split 50:50 between cash and preferred stock, making Sony Pictures a minority investor in Scopely.

GSN is best known for its social casino mobile and web games like Solitaire TriPeaks and Bingo Bash. The latter has been downloaded more than 70 million times.

The company employs around 400 people worldwide. Its CEO, Mark Feldman, will continue to oversee GSN’s affairs.

As a combined company, Scopely is valued at more than $ 5 billion through the transaction.

Better together

“The GSN Games organization is an exceptional team and we are excited to see what else we can achieve together,” said Tim O’Brien, Scopely’s chief revenue officer.

“We hope to use our publishing and technology infrastructure to accelerate an already strong business and unlock even more value.”

“Over the past four years, despite a global pandemic, GSN Games has made tremendous technical and product improvements to fulfill our commitment to delivering phenomenal gaming experiences to our players,” added Mark Feldman.

“I am delighted that GSN Games will now be part of Scopely’s dynamic global mobile games business.”

In recent years, Scopely has expanded through M&A activity, buying Marvel Strike Force from Disney, and increasing the title 70 percent year over year. In October 2020, the company raised $ 340 million in the Series E round.
