Siren Concept Artist Miki Takahashi joins the Bokeh Game Studio

Bokeh Game Studio, the Tokyo-based game studio founded by former PlayStation developers, has closed siren Concept artist Miki Takahashi. The studio uploaded a nearly 10-minute video introducing Takahashi who is in the process of creating some of the sirenmost iconic “Shibito” opponent designs. The video explains how Takahashi originally got into the video game industry, as well as her role in creating siren, Prohibited siren 2, and Siren: blood curse.

Takahashi himself is also a former employee of Sony Interactive Entertainment, which underwent a reorganization earlier this year. The restructuring led to the official closure of Japan Studios and the departure of several top-class employees such as silent Hill and siren Creator Keiichiro Toyama. Toyama eventually co-founded Bokeh Game Studio with former Japanese studio developers Kazunobu Sato and Junya Okura. Bokeh is currently working on an unannounced horror game that will be released in 2023 and that Takahashi is now concept designer.

In the introductory video, Takahashi explains that she has had a passion for drawing dark art since she was a child. Although she originally studied design in college, Takahashi piqued her interest in working in the video game industry after familiarizing herself with computer-generated graphics and animation. She eventually came to YOU in the middle of developing the first siren Game and helped design the game’s enemy Shibito designs. Takahashi later worked on the sequel to the game, Prohibited siren 2, and redesigned both Shibito and Yamibito’s enemies and their backgrounds. She describes her work on the siren Series as “happy” and it says:

My drawings have been dark since I was a child. It’s just the style that brings me peace, that I’m comfortable with. So I’m happy that I got to work on it siren Series. I feel like my strengths really match the games.

After leaving SIE, Toyama reached out to Takahashi to tell her about his new studio and urged her to join. Takahashi eventually accepted the offer, and also revealed that she is currently working on hostile designs for Bokeh Studio’s untitled horror game. Notably, Takahashi says that the enemies in the game have “a part of them that used to be human”. Furthermore, it appears that the enemies will not only be terrifying or grotesque, but will also have “some of the grief” and in some cases a “more ridiculous part” as well.
