It may come as little surprise, but new reports are surfacing that Dragon Age 4 (or whatever the next one is Dragon time Game means) does not come on consoles of the last generation. GamesBeat’s Jeff Grubb says the upcoming one Dragon time The title is only in development for PS5 and Xbox Series X | S (and PC), without considering a cross-generational release on PS4 and Xbox One.
Specifically, this comes from a listing for the title on LinkedIn by developer Daniel Nordlander Dragon time as a “(PS5 / Xbox Series X + S / PC)” game. Nordlander worked as lead player designer on “Dragon time“From October 2019 to October 2020. However, Grubb says he has also independently confirmed that no last-gen version of the title is planned and that EA and BioWare are only targeting” new-gen systems “for its release.
Now, almost a year after the launch of the PS5 and Xbox Series X | S, far fewer games are expected to be released on either generation of hardware. Historically, this trend subsides after about two years, with titles released in the third year usually being exclusive to the new generation. The fact that Dragon Age 4 Reportedly set to be released sometime in 2023 (and doesn’t even have an official name yet), more than two years after the new consoles launched, it makes it almost obvious that the last generation would be lagging behind at that point. And the restrictions on releasing the game on last generation hardware would limit the next couple of years of development.
Backward compatibility has made the transition a lot smoother, allowing developers to finish working on last-gen consoles without worrying about losing audiences that have already moved on, but it is inevitable that development focus will be more fully focused on the strengths of the new ones Offering relocated generation of consoles.
At this point we saw very little of the next Dragon timeexcept to confirm that it exists. Developers have released concept art and some teaser trailers, but we haven’t seen a full reveal trailer, let alone the gameplay. BioWare and EA haven’t officially announced the planned platforms for the new version either, but it’s safe to say that you’ll want to upgrade to the newer consoles before it releases.
Did you expect Dragon Age 4 on last generation consoles, or aren’t you surprised by the new generation report?[Source: GamesBeat]
