How to train your dragon Franchise returns with a new sequel series: How to Train Your Dragon: The Nine Realms. Except this time there is a twist.
The new series from DreamWorks, streamed on both Peacock and Hulu, makes the world of how to train your dragon easy but explores 1300 years after the adventures of Hiccup and Toothless in our modern world. As it turns out, Berk and the dragons did indeed exist, and although the dragons have returned to their cove in the center of the earth, it brings to light a geological anomaly to modern eyes.
The full synopsis is as follows:
Plays 1,300 years after the events of How to train your dragon‘Dragons are now just a legend to the modern world. When a geological anomaly opens a huge, kilometer-deep crack in the earth’s surface, scientists from all over the world gather at a new research facility to investigate the mysterious phenomenon. Soon, a group of misfits brought to the site by their parents discover the truth about dragons and where they are hiding – a secret they must keep to themselves to protect what they discover.
With the series set over a millennium after the events of the film trilogy, it is very unlikely that Hiccup, Astrid or Toothless will appear. But the dragon featured in the little teaser bears a resemblance to Toothless and the brightly colored descendants of Lightfury, so the legend lives on in a different way.
How to Train Your Dragon: The Nine Realms will debut on December 23rd on Peacock and Hulu.
