Rise of the Monster Hunters is finally coming to PC early next year, but gamers won’t be able to join their friends on Nintendo Switch. Rise of the Monster Hunters won’t have cross-play or cross-save when it hits PC in 2022, and neither will Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak Expansion at Switch in the summer of 2022, Capcom announced on Tuesday.
The developer received many requests for both functions but was looking into implementing cross-play and cross-save but was unable to “at this point”, according to a tweet from the official Monster Hunter Twitter account. While this leaves some wiggle room for future implementation, it doesn’t seem like it is on its way before launch.
Unfortunately, this means players who have bought Rise of the Monster Hunters on Switch cannot transfer their data to the PC version of the game or play with friends on this platform. PC gamers cannot play either Rise on Steam and then switch to Switch later in the year for expansion.
Rise of the Monster Hunters will be released on Windows PC on January 12, 2022 while Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak has no official release date yet. It is expected to appear on Nintendo Switch in the summer of 2022.
