A rather bizarre new video has appeared on the PlayStation YouTube channel. The unlisted video was first spotted by ResetEra and shows actor Andy Serkis congratulating the players on receiving their platinum trophy. The problem is, no one seems to know what platinum trophy it is.
Serkis is the director of the Sony film Poison: Let there be slaughter this is currently being shown in cinemas around the world and footage is playing in the background of the video while Serkis says, “Congratulations on receiving your platinum trophy, this is quite an accomplishment. Well done. “The question is which platinum trophy the video refers to, as there is no tie-in game associated with the film. Neither Sony nor Serkis have officially mentioned the video, so we accept answers on the back of a postcard or alternatively in You can watch the short video clip below if it’s not already listed and not made private.
Venom will have an appearance in the coming years Marvels Spider-Man 2 Game that apparently plays a big role. With Peter Parker and Miles Morales, the “massive” game will be “slightly darker” than the previous two titles, with a story that goes on from Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. However, Spider-Man 2 is not supposed to be released before 2023 and it is very unlikely that they would shoot a platinum trophy congratulatory video to promote a film that was released two years before the game.
The most common theory among gamers is that the video is not listed because Sony can include it in a congratulatory email to players who won the platinum trophy in one of their first-party games. The most likely candidate for this is one or both of the two Spider Man Games that are already out. Sony has been sending congratulatory emails to those earning certain platinum trophies since 2012, the first being for Killzone 3. However, the reward incentive has not always worked smoothly, as emails were sent out once congratulating players on receiving the platinum trophy Horizon: Zero Dawn even though they never play the game. Sony also had a notorious problem where many gamers were unable to receive promotional emails like this one without a clear solution.
For now, we just have to wait and see which games the Andy Serkis video congratulates the players on. Given the recent release of Poison: Let there be slaughter in theaters we cannot imagine that it is too far out.[Source: ResetEra]
