Electronic Arts announced last week that it was considering renaming its FIFA series, and a new trademark filing has now hinted that the venerable football series could be renamed EA Sports FC.
The publishing giant filed several trademarks for the same name with the UK Intellectual Property Office on October 1, and followed suit three days later with another filing with the European Union Intellectual Property Office. Of course, nothing has been confirmed yet, but it’s likely that this could be FIFA’s new name.

Cam Weber, the general manager of EA Sports Group, said last week that the company would continue to have a number of key leagues, stadiums, teams and athletes if it severed ties with FIFA.
