Here’s everything we know about the new Fortnite update v18.20.
We had our first major Fortnite update of Chapter 2 Season 8 two weeks ago with the release of v18.10. Since then we have had a maintenance update along with a hotfix content update.
The content update was released last week on Tuesday and included the release of a new weapon, Dual Fiend Hunters Crossbow. We also had the announcement for the Halloween event Fortnitemares 2021 with new Halloween-themed skins that are already spinning in the item shop.
Epic Games announced the second major new Fortnite update that will go live today, v18.20. Here’s everything we know about the update so far, including what new content we can expect, when the servers will be down for scheduled maintenance, and more.
Server downtime & status
As with all new updates, this update was announced on the Fortnite Status Twitter account. The servers will shut down at 4 a.m. ET (9 a.m. UTC) for scheduled maintenance. Matchmaking will be deactivated 30 minutes in advance.
There’s no information on how long the servers will be down, but we expect them to be down for at least a couple of hours. We’ll update this when the servers are secured along with the file size of the update for each platform.
Fortnite Update Patch Notes v18.20
We didn’t have official Fortnite patch notes for most of the seasons in Chapter 2. Epic started releasing last season and has continued to do so this season. However, they usually don’t provide information on the actual changes behind gun and item nerfs and buffs, but luckily, data miners post this information on Twitter.
We know what to expect from tomorrow’s update, which should be in the patch notes as soon as the servers are up again. We should see new tarot cards, the Graveyard Drift Quest Pack, Golden Skull Trooper, Comabt SMG vs Combat AR voting, and a number of bug fixes. The Fortnitemares 2021 challenges and rewards will likely only be added to the files in the next few weeks with the v18.21 update.
We should see that new Fortnite skins have leaked along with the challenges for this week. We’ll likely also see new weapons and items leak during downtime. Make sure to check back to see all of the coverage for Fortnite Update v18.20.
