Since a port of Monster Hunter Rise was released on PC via Steam in January, fans of the game had questions about two big features when switching to this improved version: Will there be cross-save or cross-play with the original title on Switch? Capcom tore the pavement off and gently let us down in a tweet today.
“We have your requests for cross-save / cross-play for. heard #MHRise & #Sunrise, but unfortunately we examined it throughout the development process and found that we cannot implement it this time. As always, we look forward to your continuous feedback and support. “
According to the developers, it looks like the dream of cross-save and crossplay has not yet come true for Monster Hunter. In a game where players spend hundreds of hours building an arsenal and a hunter’s chest full of armor and gear, it’s understandably daunting that those who want to play on PC have to start over.

On the other hand, kudos to the developers for coming out early and addressing the issues head on. At the very least, Capcom knows these features are important to the Monster Hunter player base. This type of awareness and appreciation can lead to progress in subsequent games.
Monster Hunter Rise will be released on PC in a few months, slated for January 12, 2022. A demo for this spiced up Rise goes live on Steam this Wednesday. Both the Switch and PC versions of Rise will receive a massive DLC expansion titled Sunbreak in the summer of 2022, complete with new monsters, new areas to explore, and master rank quests.
