It’s the end of an era at SEGA’s Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio as the company has officially confirmed the departure of Yakuza Creator Toshihiro Nagoshi and producer Daisuke Sato.
This news follows an August report that Nagoshi is in “final negotiations” to join Chinese giant NetEase. Neither Nagoshi nor Sato have announced their future plans, so their next ventures are currently unknown. Nevertheless, in view of these departures, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has announced several personnel changes. Masayoshi Yokoyama has taken on Ryosuke Horii as studio director and executive producer Yakuza The series will be the chief director and Hiroyuki Sakamoto will serve as the chief producer.
In the same press release, Ryu Ga Gotoku studio confirmed that a sequel to Yakuza: Like a dragon is currently under development.
“The predecessors of Ryu Ga Gotoku passed their beliefs and know-how on to every single employee,” Yokoyama said in a statement. “You can check it out recently Lost judgment and’ll see it in the upcoming sequel Yakuza: Like a dragon which will continue the story of Ichiban Kasuga. “
Yokoyama has also teased a new game from the studio Ryu Ga Gotoku, which it will hopefully unveil next year.
