Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate is a bloody but beautiful ending to the story arc that began in Mortal Kombat in 2011. Netherrealm Studios, also known for its Injustice series, sets the bar high for the look and feel of an AAA fighting game. The crowning glory of MK11 is a first-class story mode that not only tells a great story, but is also fun, especially for long-time fans of the series. The story revolves around Kronika, mother of the Elder Gods and guardian of time. She takes drastic measures to correct an anomaly in the fate of the universe set by Raiden’s actions years ago. The resulting battle between beloved Earthrealm warriors and the Kronika forces is bombastic and cheesy in the best of ways. Time travel and alternative timeline gadgets follow, leading to a final battle for control of all time.
Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate combines everything from the base game and its Aftermath expansion in one package. This includes a list of 37 Kombatants with the mainstays of the series Sub Zero, Scorpion, Johnny Cage and Shao Kahn, as well as a host of new characters and incredible guests like The Terminator, Rambo and The Joker. Each character has customizable moves and interchangeable costume elements to further personalize your combatants of your choice. Those who are squeamish might want to skip this game, but fighting game fans in general should try MK11 if they can endure intense violence. | Our review
