Here’s everything we know about the new Fortnite update v18.10 today.
It’s been two weeks since Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 started and we had our first update of the season last week. The hotfix update v18.00 introduced the birthday event together with Armored Walls.
Epic Games has announced that there will be a new Fortnite update today, September 28, 2021, v18.10. Here’s what we know about the update so far, including what new content we can expect, bug fixes, server downtime, and more.
Server downtime & status
The Fortnite Status Twitter account tweeted a few hours ago that the first major update of the 8th season will be released on September 28, 2021. The Fortnite servers will be down at 4 a.m. ET and will likely be down for a couple of hours.
We’ll update you here when the servers are up again.
v18.10 Fortnite Update Patch Notes
In previous seasons in Chapter 2, Epic Games posted the new contents of the update before it was released via email or by posting the information on Twitter. However, this season, Epic released official patch notes after an update went live, although it is still missing information including changes to items and weapons.
In the tweet announcing the update, Epic added “Bring the Head” with a spice emoji. That suggests we will receive the Chug Splashes item that was leaked by data miners from the v18.00 Season Launch Update.
The Chug Splash heals 20 health but offers no shield, it multiplies movement speed by 1.4 and lasts for a minute. Here’s a look at how they’ll look in-game thanks to Fortnite Data Miner Hypex:
We could see a new POI being introduced or some damage to existing POIs. There is no official information on this, but we will likely know if there are any map changes during the server downtime.
v18.10 bug fixes
- Crash site slipstreams will no longer turn off once they reach a certain storm circle phase.
- Vehicles that are seriously damaged in a collision with the wreck of the mother ship will be fixed.
- If a campfire doesn’t work, it will be fixed.
- Donation boards that do not display war effort items in the selected language.
As with all major Fortnite updates, data miners will lose any new files added in this update. Expect new Fortnite skins, challenges, and upcoming items and weapons to have leaked.
