Sony skipped this year’s E3 and left a crater on this year’s video game hype season. While the company has created smaller streams based on big titles every few months, this isn’t the same as an entire presentation full of big announcements. Fortunately, Sony has just decided to be late in fashion. Today’s PlayStation Showcase stream was essentially an E3 presentation full of huge announcements that we were missing in June.
Okay, that’s a bit of an exaggeration. The stream certainly showed a lot of trailers for upcoming games like Pronounced and Death loop, but wasn’t exactly loaded with shocks until the last few minutes – but what exciting minutes it was! We got our first look at God of war Ragnarok, a shocking reveal of Spider-Man 2, and even more surprising superhero news in the form of Marvel’s Wolverine. While the show didn’t have set release dates, it certainly set the stage for PS5 for the next several years.
Every announcement from Sony’s PlayStation Showcase is in one convenient place here.
