In celebration of Xbox’s 20th anniversary, Adidas has unveiled new Xbox-themed sneakers that, as expected, are very green.
Xbox announced the news today, revealing that these sneakers will be the first time the company has partnered with another to create console-inspired shoes. These shoes are specifically inspired by the translucent green Xbox special edition released for the 2001 launch of Halo: Combat Evolved.
“The design of the Adidas Forum Tech balances nostalgia with modern technology and is a symbol of how we look at our own Xbox history – celebrating the last 20 years and looking into the boundless future of gaming,” says the Xbox blog post.
You can see these fancy Xbox Adidas sneakers above, but if they’re not what you want, don’t sweat it out: Xbox says these shoes are just the beginning of their partnership with Adidas and that for the next several months they will anniversary by launching additional sneakers inspired by previous and current generations of Xbox consoles, including the very first sneaker available to our fans later this year. ”
Yes, you read that right – these first sneakers won’t be for sale. However, you can Follow Xbox on Twitter to maybe win a couple. Be sure to check out the Xbox blog post about these sneakers for a very nostalgic video in the skateboarding vibe of the early 2000s about the shoes and what they meant to the company.
This Adidas collaboration may be the first time Xbox has partnered with a sneaker brand to create console-inspired shoes, but it isn’t the first sneaker team for Xbox. Back in July, the company announced that it had partnered with Nike to develop some Limited Space Jam: A New Legacy Shoes. Elsewhere in games, Puma announced that it would be released back in August Animal Crossing: New Horizons Sneakers special edition.
